Legal professional with expertise in anti-trust & public policy matters. Presently, working as Director (Law) in Digital Markets & Data Unit of Competition Commission of India (CCI). Also, holding charge in Advocacy and IT Divisions of CCI. Previously, worked over 10 years in Anti-Trust Division.
Earlier, taught various disciplines in law including Competition Law, Corporate Laws, Labour Laws, Constitutional Law & International Trade at Campus Law Centre of Faculty of Law of University of Delhi. Also practised before various Courts/ Tribunals/ Regulatory Bodies.
Holds Ph.D. in Law, along with LL. B and LL. M degrees, all from the University of Delhi. Began journey in law as a researcher, transitioning into teaching and legal practice, before finally joining CCI in 2010 i.e. immediately after the competition regime became operational in India.
During stint at CCI, gained immense global exposure by participating in events organised by UNCTAD, ICN, ABA, OECD and Competition Agencies.
In 2015, selected as Fellow for the prestigious International Visitor Leadership Programme (IVLP) hosted by US Department of State at Washington D.C., California and other locations in US.
In 2018, was on foreign deputation/ secondment at Competition Bureau, Canada.
In 2023, attended Competition Policy Seminar/ Summer School at College of Europe in Belgium, as part of Competition Cooperation, EU- India.
Prior to joining the GSMA, Emanuela was a partner for 11 years at two law firms in the City of London, advising governments, regulator, competition authorities and corporate clients on matters of competition law and regulation. A lawyer by background, Emanuela also has an MSc in Economic Regulation and Competition from City University, London, and an LLM in Information Technology and Telecommunications Law from Strathclyde University.
