Exploring Convergences between EU’s and India’s Technological Empowerment Journey

Collaboration and cooperation between our jurisdictions make emminent sense. Both the EU and India strive to harness technology for digital transformation and promote our industries and startups while protecting our citizens and societies from harm. Both have an innate respect for democratic values, inclusion, equity, human rights and diversity. This shared value system is a sound foundation for the evolution of fit-for-purpose regulation for using frontier technologies like AI ethically and safely. There is much in common in our approaches to Tech. Regulation, whether we look at recent developments in competition regulation or data or online content regulation.

I drew attention to some best practices we can share, lessons we can learn from content regulation, and the need for greater involvement of the Global South in shaping the future of the Internet and using AI to benefit all humanity.
